Grupo Argraf, S.A. merged its three family companies on 1 January 2012 with the aim of achieving excellence in all its operations. The company is located in the heart of the Rioja wine area, covers a surface area of 10,000 square metres, employs 125 people and has an annual turnover of more than 18 million euros. The Group mainly manufactures labels for wine bottles, with around 850 million units (both glueable and self-adhesive).
This production capacity has taken it to a market share of 21% of the Spanish market, in which it holds a position of leadership. It also manufactures 2,000 million other labels for the canned vegetable and fish, chocolate and water sectors, among others.
Grupo Argraf, S.A. specialises in embellishing and innovating wine labels, and to achieve this it has the biggest stamping machinery pool with 10 machines, plus finishes with overprint varnish systems, UVI, gloss and matte lamination, silk screening, etc. Its facility is also equipped to cut, die cut and give the best shape to each of its clients’ labels.
The wine market in Spain is characterised by two essential factors, which are also having an impact on the current financial downturn:
1. A fall in wine consumption. Over the last 25 years this has gone from 45 to 16 litres per person per year in Spain.
2. A clear trend towards higher-quailty wines (Designation of Origin and aged wines).
